How To Draw Optical Illusions Easy
Hi, beau artists! I am taking over Teen Art Club this week and we are going to make optical illusion drawings. Optical illusions are works of visual art that fool our optics into seeing something that isn't at that place. In this case, there will exist a 3D effect in our drawings, fifty-fifty though we're drawing on a flat surface in 2D. Drawing these illusions isn't equally hard as it may seem. Let's put on some good tunes and arrive the zone.
Materials Needed
- Paper
- Pencil/Pen
- Ruler
- Colored Pencils, Paints, Markers, Etc.
Stride ane
Place a single dot anywhere on your piece of paper. This volition act as your vanishing point (the point at which receding parallel lines viewed in perspective appear to converge).
Step two
Using your ruler, draw an even number of lines extending outward from the dot to the edges of your paper. Follow all the way around until you have a bit of a circle. (Tip: Try non to exit any big gaps in betwixt each line, as smaller gaps will raise the illusion'southward effect!)
Step iii
Draw a curved line in between each column (like a spider's spider web). Echo this until yous get to the border of the paper. Then, in the adjacent column, draw a similar curved line in the contrary direction as shown below. Echo all the fashion around the circle.
(You lot can see I initially forgot to include an even amount of lines in this instance, which led to a piffling fleck of improvising!)
Step 4
In a sort-of checkerboard pattern, fill in every other cake in a row or column with one colour. There should not be any two blocks directly to the left/right or above/below each other with the same colour. You lot can do two different colors, or use 1 color and leave the other blocks blank (or white).
Information technology doesn't affair what you use to fill in these blocks, but mark seems to have a bolder touch than paints, as we will see toward the finish!
Pay close attention to your design! Attempt sticking to 1 row or column at a time if y'all start to feel overwhelmed.
It should look something like this once everything has been filled in.
Footstep 5 (Optional)
Retrace the outlines yous made in pencil with a pen or thin black marker.
If you used a marker or pen at the showtime, you won't have to worry about this step. Since I was using paint to color in the blocks, I decided to save this pace for last then my outline wouldn't get painted over.
The bold lines go a long way in making this illusion Popular!
Footstep half dozen
Voila! You've completed an optical illusion drawing! If it didn't turn out quite the manner you wanted, endeavour playing effectually and using different tools to change the expect of your illusion.
For example, an optical illusion drawing that I made with blackness permanent marker gave the lines a assuming wait and assorted the two colors well with each other.
Every bit long equally you follow the bones instructions of this tutorial, you lot tin can adjust this exercise in a multifariousness of different ways and create your own wild illusions.
If you had fun with this one, await upwardly more optical illusions online (or check out the listing below) and see what y'all detect. Savor drawing and we'll see yous next time!
