Disregard AndreePin'southward respond. In that location is null "corrupted or broken" nearly your template; it is working as designed.
Templates in the startup folder are global templates rather than document templates. They can provide a customized Ribbon and QAT, custom AutoText and building blocks, macros, and the like, but they do non provide any layout or content. For that you need a specific certificate template.
No matter how many templates yous have in the Startup folder, the new blank document created when y'all start Discussion volition exist based on the Normal template. If you desire a new document that contains specific content (such every bit custom headers and footers, a TOC, sample content, etc.), or a dissimilar layout (margins, orientation) from the default Blank Document based on Normal.dotm, y'all have to create a document template and shop information technology in the Templates binder then that y'all can create a certificate based on it through the New dialog. I agree with Suzanne, disregard AndreePin'due south response completely.
Everything Suzanne told you is correct. If you lot would like a unlike template than the normal.dotm template to be the default for new documents, this is possible only not all that simple.
Run across the following Add-In packages that document and demonstrate how to practise this.
- Letterhead AddIn(south) - Default New Certificate
- Easy New Document Template Parcel
Those evidence how to do it and have all the necessary vba code you can put in your ain templates if you want. Ane of the methods in the kickoff prepare lets you choose your ain template to be the default without you adding any code to your template. That is the i that uses two templates, 1 in the Startup Folder and the other (your own) saved in your Workgroup Templates folder.
Annotation, yous should NOT put any text into your normal template.

Andre,
With great respect, this is BAD advice. Not simply will it not aid, but may hurt. John's template is working correctly, although not the style he expected. I'thou not sure if you didn't read the question or what. If you lot did read it, your response shows that you accept no understanding of how Global Templates, templates stored in the Startup Binder, work.
I take that you must take peachy feel with other aspects of Microsoft Office to have been given the Moderator position, but you lot really blew it here. You should not be answering questions nearly Word without more than noesis and feel.
